Angie posted this on our thread, I loved it so much I had to copy it here:
So not really sure what happened tonight, definitely a pretty
day for me. I was getting super frustrated, I could barely stabilize the bar overhead, let alone squat it without falling on my *** or having to drop the weight from above. I think Jay could tell I was getting frustrated and said it was a hard week ( which it was ) but I hate looking for excuses. My zone was on all week so it wasn't my diet, and I think the most aggravating thing was that we did a 75# OHS/pullups WOD not too long ago and I did pretty well for myself since it was my second time doing 75# OHS – so why in the world was I all over the place tonight?- Still haven't the foggiest idea!!
So after the 10 minute ordeal was over, one of our newbies Jackie, says "you did great, how long have you been doing crossfit?" and I said thanks, I started in February, it's been about six months. Didn't really think about that statement until my ride home…It's been six months since I started crossfit! Six months ago I was barely even able to get the movements of these lifts down let alone have any kind of weight involved. After thinking about that for a while, my spirits were definitely somewhat mended. And if I learned any kind of lesson from today it's…everyday is not going to be a PR, everyday is not going to be fun and exciting, it will be very hard, frustrating and emotional (yes I know that sounds girlie but it's true).
But not one day should be considered a failure, failure would've been me not coming back after my first day six months ago. So all the newbies out there, keep on coming back- you will learn new things everyday, you will get stronger, and most days are fun!! And listen when Jay says "listen to your body" cause I probably should have taken a rest day this week- I may have done a little better. See ya'll at the seminar tomorrow!
A few weeks ago I threw a challenge out to the entire CrossFit community…hit as many reps of Squats as possible in 10 minutes, and oh yeah, do it with 75lbs. overhead!
The ACF athletes really represented today. We had 26 people hit the challenge, 10 of which did it rx'd which is 75lbs. whether you have Y chromosome or not. Right now if you all were to register at logsitall we would have the top 4 women – Kelly K., Laura M., Viv, and Niki respectively and a host of others in the top ten. If Andy registers at logsitall he would be the number 2 man and a bunch of you would be in the top ten.
For those of you unfamiliar with logsitall.com it is a way of registering and journaling your WODs online and if we have some ACF athletes register we can have some great things on our website including Leader Boards for every workout as well as a great way to represent ACF. Definitely check it out, let me know if you have any technical issues.
