More Knots Than the Climbing Net
by Lenora
I’ve been paying the price for high volume leg work on tuesday. I thought if I scaled the squat weight to 85, and it felt light, I wouldn’t be sore. That may or may not have been the case, but, I did the deadlifts/step-ups, scaled like crazy, which also felt “benign”. This was normal to most of you, but, with my form issues, it was over-the-top for me. I didn’t think I was in any trouble, till that evening when my low body tightened up. I worked out some of this on Wednesday, but, still had the full side of the leg and hip muscle knots on thursday. Dr B had my spine in great shape, but, she had to apply some tough love to get me mobile in the hip and leg department. This is not in the Chiropractic brochure, but, I was in trouble, and all that tightness probably was hard on my spine. I felt the knots ease up and went to work with Dyck at Cutting Edge as usual. The box squats and sumodeadlifts were safe, and I don’t do much volume there. It’s just strength. The prowler was safe. I’m on a nice wood surface, not the asphalt in our parking lot. By the last “lap”, my legs felt tired, and near failing, but, after a couple of three second stops, I was on my way again. Legs felt ok, and I didn’t “push it” other than the prowler.
The removal of muscle knots takes several sessions of foam rolling to get them smoothed out, and to keep it smooth. Real healing needs to take place, and I got the hint. Meanwhile, the soreness in my left bicep is nearly gone, so, I’ll be able to resume chinup volume training. Today and tomorrow are rest days, and I’ll see how it goes as far as sunday’s Strongman class is concerned. Strongman needs to be “Smartman” and woman as well.
