Finally Getting a Leg Up On This Soreness

Posted on by Lenora

This morning my glutes and legs felt almost good enough to wod today. I was tempted to do Strongman, which is an unknown since I don’t know what Kevin was planning. Maybe it was feeling tired, or maybe it was the presence of enough soreness to warn me to wait till my legs are 100% before going back to anything resembling a squat. Yeah, my squats at best, sort of resemble a squat. It wasn’t the best day to “make-up” the log press either. My shoulder feels better now than first thing this morning, but, I don’t need to do overhead press of any kind the day after pushing the envelope on strict press.

Being smart is a lonely business. I miss my friends at ACF. I envy those who signed up for the tri-state, even though, it would have been a bad idea at this point. I wonder if I’m falling behind in CrossFit. What? Is this something you can “fall behind” in? I’m not talking about falling backwards, while letting the keettlebells fly, like two sundays ago. Am I really so competitive that I’m concerned everyone’s getting ahead of me? That’s not a good way to think. I’ve been doing this four years, but, I need to remember to have gratitude I’m doing it, and still learning new things, and getting stronger. Goals have had to be revised, but, it’s about being healthy, and having fun while doing it.

I’ll be a lot better off if I wait till Thursday to resume leg work, and I don’t need to push the shoulders for something to keep me occupied and productive. Ring rows are likely the smartest thing I should be working on, and some mobility. At least I’m still doing paleo.

Last night, I started bonking, and didn’t pack nuts. I thought an avocado with my sardines and apple would be enough at my 3:30 lunch, to get me to 8:30 dinner. Not good enough. Even with breakfast of 4 eggs, broccoli, and garlic, sauteed in coconut oil for breakfast didn’t make up for the gap between lunch and dinner. I just need fat snacks to fill in the gap. Maybe I need it to help heal the soreness. I finally got dinner at 8:30 of a leftover chicken leg, pistachios, and dates and figs. I was bonked, in a hurry, and just didn’t feel like fussing.
