What a beautiful day…if cold and snowy is your thing! However, right before the snow started to fall, Albany CrossFit paid tribute to Fort Hood with the Lumberjack 20. What a crew we had, over 40 athletes showed up, ready to hit this challenging WOD. Rain, Snow, Sleet, or Hail would not have stopped our crew of Badasses!
This was a very complicated WOD not just to hit but to organize as well. Trying to accommodate 40 athletes of different levels and abilities is never easy, let alone with so many movements. We really appreciate everyone signing up online and showing up on time. It really made the whole experience that much better and we truly appreciate it.
In addition to all of our amazing ACF athletes it was great to have Sarah, Carlos, Matt, and Scott drop in from out of town. Sarah is a firebreather and we know we will see her next year at the Regionals! Carlos in from a much warmer California was inspiring with his 275lb. Deadlifts. Matt did great going head to head with Leb after the 10am class finished. Scott from Virginia crushed the WOD although he was not used to such cold weather and then after the workout nailed his first Muscle-Up! Albany CrossFit…where dreams really do come true!
Shout out of the Day goes to David G. David came to us just over a month ago, skeptical of not only CrossFit but what his body could do. Slowly David started believing us that he was strong and could do much more then he thought he was capable of. Under the constant tutelage and supervision of Coach Jess, David has changed his body and life. Today we were super proud to see him participate in the Lumberjack 20. Although he reminded us he scaled it by doing half, we reminded him, half today was twice as much as he ever thought he could…we are proud of you!
Thanks to Preacher Abby for starting the WOD off with a great prayer and moment of silence.
