Friendship is something
I think we all know about…
…friendship is something that is built on one another connecting with each other, sharing of oneself, and giving of oneself. This week I can honestly say I witnessed true friendship and love from Albany CrossFit.
The out pouring of support for our family was beyond words, being showered with cards, food and more food, as well as people dropping in just to make sure we were alright.
The night of Steve’s wake was one of the hardest days of my life, but having 30+ people walking in from ACF made it feel like our second home relocated up Central Ave. We had streams of people to console us, to comfort us, to listen and to hug.
I have not only been fortunate to have made good friends at ACF I was fortunate to have a friend of 28 years. Steve and I had been together through good times and bad times…and I'm proud to say the unconditional bond and friendship remained. "I am honored" to have had Steve get to know the people at ACF. The place he would say changed us both. The place he felt friendship. The place where he not only found true friends but where I did as well. Friends that I know will become "life long" friends.
Thank you for your love and sincere kindness. Myself and my family will never forget. I would be honored if you joined Stacey and I in a Memorial WOD for Steve on September 5, 2009.
With love,
Joy

No words can express how sad I am to lose my father. He was a supportive, caring, loving man who was someone I could always count on. Going to CrossFit together was one of the many memories we shared together. First coming to Eugene’s 8:00 class my father was motivated and inspired by the group of people he was working out with. A few weeks later he started coming to the 4:30 class with me. Not only was everyone welcoming they were always willing to give tips or suggestions for improvement. As a hard worker, my father continually made improvements with his technique and set new PR’s in his lifts.
Every night I would tell him how great he did and how awesome he was going to be. His response was, “I am not looking to beat anyone’s time or lift more than them. I just want to get better for myself.” My father was a proud Athlete of the Week. Coming home that night he was so excited about his accomplishment and the congratulations he received from everyone. For the short time my father was at CrossFit he made friends who were already like family to me and became a member of the CrossFit family himself.
I can’t describe to you how much I loved my dad, but I am truly thankful for all the support that was given to my family during this difficult time. Thank you again.
- Stacey

It would be my honor to attend this WOD in honor of a fellow crossfiter who was always a pleasure to see in class and always had a smile on his face.
I will most definitely be there. Look forward to seeing you both soon.
Joy, Stacey and Steve, you have my deepest sympathies over the loss of your loving husband and caring father. The world lost a great man far to soon. It would be my honor to sweat alongside fellow crossfitters in Stephen’s memory.

I’ll definitely be there. It would be an honor.
wouldn’t miss it for the world!
Absolutely.
Joy and Stacey-
Being relatively new to Crossfit, I don’t think we’ve met. However, I am generally in the 3:30 class so everyday when I was done, I saw Steve sitting in the hall waiting to get started. He always greeted me with a smile, a “Hello” and a “Great Job!” It was just one more example of the camaraderie and teamwork of Crossfit. He seemed like a great person and I am very sorry for your loss. Sorry I won’t be able to make the WOD– wish I could!
Regards,Mary Pat Van Etten

That is well known that money can make people free. But what to do if somebody doesn’t have money? The one way is to receive the loan and just auto loan.
I would be honored!
