Double the Fat?

Posted on by Jason

When is it time to up your fat?

Are you making progress on the zone?  Are you still getting stronger?  Times still going down?  Looking good?  Feeling energetic?  If you answered No to any of these questions it may be time to up your fat.

The zone is generally designed as a weight-loss and means for health diet.  When an athlete gets in the zone it changes a little, there is even a term – "athlete's zone".  Many CrossFitters that are in the zone need to compensate for all their hard work, calories they burn, and muscle they have.  We do this by upping our fat.  We keep the blocks the same but simply add more fat into our diet.

Why up the fat and not add more blocks?  Fat is neutral and neither spikes or inhibits your insulin.  As we know the goal of the zone diet is to balance and control your insulin.  So by adding Fat we don't effect that and we get more good, healthy calories into our nutrition.

Anything to add?  Has anyone already upped their Fat?  Is anyone afraid to?
