Paleo Challenge

Phase 2:

We are coming off the heels of success from our first Paleo Challenge and we are ready to begin Phase 2.  This time around it will be all about measuring performance.  Here are the tests we will look at:

  • 500m Row
  • Max Push-ups
  • 2 min sit-up test
  • Max Pull-ups
  • Max Back Squat
  • Max Press
  • Max Deadlift
  • “Christine”
  • Max Ring Dips
  • 1 mile run (loop)
  • “Baseline”
  • 1 minute Max Burpees
  • 400 meter run
  • “Cindy”
  • “Fran”

Many of you have hit some of these tests in the past two weeks, we will count those.  For the one’s you have not hit, we will complete them all by the end of next week, Saturday, August 22nd.  We will then run an 8-week “Paleo Challenge” and re-test.  We will do that between the weeks of Monday, October 12th and Sunday, October 25th.  The winner will be based on percentage of overall improvement.  For example if you improve your deadlift from 200lbs. to 300lbs. that is 50%, your 1 mile run decreases from 8 minutes to 6 minutes, you add an additioanal 25%, giving you 75%, so on and so on.

The buy-in will once again be $20 and again the winners will share the prize money.  This will be a great opportunity to get on the Paleo bandwagon or keep your momentum rolling if you were already hitting it Paleo Style.

As everyone knows, whenever we come back from a certification, we push you in that direction.  So, after the Nutrition certification we are anxious and excited to help our athletes achieve even better nutrition, fitness, and performance.  It could be worse…it could be a burpee certification!

In order to fine-tune our nutrition, we are holding Albany CrossFit’s 1st Paleo Challenge.  Most of you heard about it before and after classes tonight, but we will give a quick re-hash of it here. 

Starting Sunday, June 21st – Ending Saturday, August 15th 

You will need to be willing to take before and after pictures.  These will not be seen by anyone other then ACF coaches, unless you are in the top 10 in which they will be online for the vote for top 3.

We will be available to all participants to help with their diet and questions that come up during the challenge.

It will be $20 to enter with the entry money going out as prizes to the top 3 as well as a few other fun prizes.

The winners will be chosen based on greatest improvement in their physique, not necessarily best physique.  Again this will not be judged on performance or measurements, however, Kelly will run some stats and we will test if improved physique is correlated to better performance.

We will post links throughout the competition and encourage everyone to do some research of their own.  There is so much information out there about paleo, gluten-free, and nutrition.

Remember this is your choice to enter, you do not have to. 

Keep in mind, we are not selling anything.  We have nothing to gain by encouraging all of you to eat paleo and go gluten-free.  We simply want the best for our athletes and believe this is it.
